I recently read a great article ( https://aethelfliedbrewbane.wordpress.com/2017/05/31/the-cost-of-clothing/) written by a fellow seamstress about people not wanting or understanding the value of hand made, custom, specially designed pieces. I have been a professional costumer/designer/cosplayer for 10 years and I can personally relate to this problem. People are not willing to pay what it takes to have something made for them (well some people are, not everyone). This also goes with vintage clothing too....buying, sourcing, restoring vintage clothing is EXPENSIVE. People just don't get the time and effort that is put into finding the exact right thing for the look they want to have. Anyway, I say all this to say....please please please it is sooooo worth it to shop local, to re-purpose vintage clothing, to commission hand made pieces. Like that age old adage: You Get What You Pay For!
Thanks!
