Film star Hedy Lamarr is my spotlight choice for this International Women's Day! Known widely for her brilliant acting career what is less known about this complex and smart woman is her role as an inventor. Born in Vienna Hedy was accepted in the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2014 for her work on secret communication devices. She also designed improvements to modern traffic lights and to Coka-a-Cola systems. Her contributions went unnoticed until 1997 when patents with her and her partners name were discovered. Thank you Hedy for showing all women that you can be both beautiful and smart!
