The gorgeous and enigmatic Marlene Dietrich was born on December 27th, 1901 as a dual citizen to the US and to Germany. Her career in films and on stage was born out of her ability to reinvent herself.
She worked in silent films, then for Paramount Pictures, and after World War II continued onto the stage. Even Google has her as their interactive logo today in celebration of what would have been her 116th birthday. Our top hats are off to you!

Putting the Ginger in Gingerbread: a collection of my favorite red heads
First off, let me say a wonderful Happy Holidays to all you vintage glamour guys and gals! I hope your winter is merry and bright! I thought I might share pictures of some of my favorite red/auburn haired ladies that are either vintage icons or have starred in vintage themed films.
I must say red heads have always fascinated me, I myself in fact went dark red once. I liked it but man what an up-keep! It also took forever to get the red out of my hair as I transitioned back to blonde. There is something about the uniqueness of red hair that has always lured me in. Who is your favorite, famous red head?
The great Judy Garland |
The FABULOUS Christina Hendricks |
Forget Betty Davis eyes, I want Betty Davis hair! |
Rita Hayworth |
Emma Stone |
Katherine Hepburn |
The incomparable Lucy. |
Maureen O'Hara |
Debbie Reynolds |
Julia Roberts, circa the 1990s was America's ginger sweet heart! |
Gina Lolabrigida |
The fantastic Shirley MacLaine. |
Carol Burnett, no red head list is complete without this queen of comedy. |
Bette Midler |
The red head of the 1980's: Molly Ringwald |
Suzanne Sarandon |
