Let's face it gals, when it comes to vintage beauty trends sometimes we mere mortals need a helping hand. The following blogs and YouTube channels are a godsend to those of us who need a few tips and tricks to get out retro style on!
Lisa Eldridge is my absolute favorite makeup blogger ever. A professional makeup artist to A list celebrities this British beauty is a joy to watch. She is also somewhat obsessed with looks from every decade and has done plenty of research in the process.
You can find her YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/lisaeldridgedotcom
Lisa even wrote a wonderful book called "Facepaint" all about the history of makeup from ancient to modern with a special emphasis on not just how the make up was made but WHY it was made and applied. She delves into the early brands and how the big names like Max Factor and Revlon got their start. She even has a vintage collection of makeup, including some lovely punchy colors from Biba in the 1970's! I personally watch and re-watch her Marilyn Monroe look whenever I feel like I need a boost.
My next favorite (though they all kind of are) is The Cherry Dollface! Her sweet rockabilly and pinup style is so unique and her YouTube tutorials cover everything from vintage styled hair and makeup to her decorating aesthetic!
Probably what I adore the most are her "style swaps" where she turns one of her friends into a pinup babe. If you haven't checked out her channel yet you can do that here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCNHFdqPWAUa_fh92VmXJC-A
Not only does Cherry do all sorts of videos and tours she even has an Etsy shop where she sells some simply gorgeous clothing and accessories. I'm not saying I am a horrible enabler, but I am a HORRIBLE enabler....you can check out her shop here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheCherryDollface?ref=pr_faveshops
Lastly, and I think no beauty blog would be complete without the stunning Dita Von Teese. A real life pinup and burlesque performer Dita lives and breathes vintage (and just oozes charm).
Her book outlines and details her entire ritual from start to finish as well as explaining her beauty philosophy. She even delves into her exercise routine, shaving, and her almost mistake with her infamous beauty mark! (Let me just say that as I was reading that one, I almost fainted at the thought that she had planned something so....well...different. I won't spoil it but I will say Dita wouldn't be Dita without her mark!)
Well there you have it! Now these aren't the ONLY beauty bloggers I follow but these in particular seem to have the largest impact on my life and look!
Thanks for reading, catch ya next time!
